Built to protect
students. Not RTOs.
VetIntel is an independent intelligence and comparison platform mapping Australia's vocational education market. We are not a Registered Training Organisation. We do not deliver training. We do not take commissions.
An intelligence system, not a directory
Most course comparison sites make money by referring students to RTOs. The more enrolments they drive, the more they earn. That financial arrangement creates a structural incentive to promote — not protect.
VetIntel inverts this. We are editorially funded and structurally independent. Our income does not depend on which RTO you choose, whether you enrol at all, or how much you pay.
We exist because the Australian VET market has a documented consumer harm problem. Students routinely pay thousands of dollars for qualifications from providers with active compliance notices, cancelled registrations, or histories of misleading marketing. Most students have no way to know this before they enrol.
We built the system we wish existed when we needed it.
73% of students surveyed by the ACCC reported they felt misled during the enrolment process for vocational qualifications. Aggressive sales tactics, inflated RPL claims, and undisclosed delivery restrictions are systemic issues the market has not resolved.
Price transparency across all active providers. Compliance and audit history. Risk profiles built from government data. Delivery mode verification. Employer recognition signals. All in one place, updated quarterly.
Prospective students, career advisors, industry peak bodies, journalists, and policymakers tracking the health of Australia's VET sector. Increasingly, HR teams screening whether a candidate's qualification came from a credible provider.
Four pillars of independent analysis
We surface compliance failures, audit outcomes, and cancellation histories that training providers would prefer consumers never find. Every data point is sourced from publicly available government records.
No RTO pays us. No course provider influences our ratings. We accept no referral fees, no placement commissions, and no advertising from training organisations.
Our methodology is published. Our data sources are cited. Where our analysis involves judgement calls, we say so — and explain the reasoning.
The Tribune, our editorial arm, publishes investigations into RTO conduct, regulatory failure, and systemic consumer harm in the VET sector.
The rules we operate under
- 01We never accept payment from any RTO, course aggregator, or training provider.
- 02We never publish sponsored content or affiliate-linked course listings.
- 03Data is sourced exclusively from government registers, ASQA audit reports, and publicly available RTO documentation.
- 04Where a provider disputes our analysis, we publish the dispute and our response.
- 05Our ratings and risk scores are recalculated at minimum quarterly.
- 06We distinguish clearly between factual data and editorial opinion.
